Wizards releases previews of packaging and artwork for Modern Masters 2017, Amonkhet

Wizards of the Coast put out some great information today as they prepare for Modern Masters 2017 previews starting next week.

Up first is the release of the packaging for MM17. With the disaster of the MM2015 packaging, it is nice to see WotC returning to the more traditional packaging. What’s the most telling about these is the art.

As you can see Griselbrand, Domri Rade, and Stoic Angel are on the packaging fronts. Does this mean we won’t see Liliana of the Veil since Domri Rade is taking up the 3CMC planeswalker spot? Does Domri Rade really have any impact on Modern?

With Griselbrand being displayed, can we have hopes for Through the Breach and Goryo’s Vengeance? I would love a Through the Breach reprint. My fingers are crossed!

We also got to see the booster box for MM2017.

Previews for MM2017 start next week. I am really looking forward to it.

Also, spoiled today was the packaging for the upcoming expansion, Amonkhet. It’s clear, as we already knew, Amonkhet is drawing heavily from Egyptian mythology. I think Egyptian mythology is fascinating so it will be interesting to see how they spin it.

Wizards also announced full-art lands for Amonkhet! Unlike the full arts from other sets, these will be found in 1 in 4 booster packs and in supplemental products. All of these look excellent and, you can clearly see the influence of everyone’s favorite evil planeswalker, Nicol Bolas!

Bolas’ influence is felt on the Bundle Pack packaging as well as the pre-release packaging.

We got to see the artwork for the new planeswalker decks featuring Gideon and Liliana, too.

Are you excited for Amonkhet? I know I am.

Also previewed today was the packaging for a new Archenemy where you can go up against Nicol Bolas or play as the dragon himself.

Here is some more Amonkhet artwork for all of us to gawk at.
