It’s been a year. A year since I decided I wanted to create a blog about gaming. While we didn’t grow at exponential rates, nor are we all millionaires (not even close!) we did see some growth and some changes.
When we first started out it was just me attempting to write about things I thought might interest people. In fact, the very first article we published was about Jarvis Yu winning GP Seattle last year. We have come a long way since then.
At launch, we had Chock and I doing the writing. We picked up a couple more writers here and there but, for the most part, he and I are the only constants. We do have people who like to do guest posts, and we sure do like those folks.
In this one-year time, we have published 214 articles. That’s 214 articles where we talked about RPGs, Magic, board games, and more. I find that really exciting! We have fine-tuned our site, we have created and maintain our social media sites, and we have even had a couple t-shirts printed for our crew that goes to Magic tournaments regularly.
Not too bad for our first year.
So where do we go from here?
Well, first, we expand our reach! As many of you know, we are doing a giveaway in celebration of our first year of publication. That can be found here. If you haven’t signed up, please do so! More giveaways will follow.
We have recently launched a new Snapchat account. You can add us by adding the user, forgeherald. We will be sending snaps of the games we are playing as we are playing them.
Sometime during our second year, we are hoping to launch a podcast where we will talk more free-form about games and such.
We are hoping to get more video content posted to our YouTube Channel, too.
Basically, we want to get a whole host of content out there for you, our followers.
We have also launched a Patreon account. We have set the sponsorship level pretty low ($2/month) but are hoping to get increased levels soon. So, if you want to support the work we are doing, just head over there.
We are working on a t-shirt design so you can show your support wherever you go. We will keep you updated.
We hope to do a little bit of traveling this year, too. We would like to get out to conventions so we can share with our readers what we see. Again, we will keep you posted.
Ultimately, the goal is to continue to put out content. We have some games in the pipe, waiting to be played and reviewed, we have tournaments to go to, and so on.
If there is a game or product you would like us to review, please drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are not asking for handouts, just looking for suggestions on what we should be checking out.
That’s all for now, friends. Thanks for the first year!
