I must say Beast Druid is the most fun I have had with any deck. I suppose it make sense though, Druid is the first hero I ever druid. In fact, when I was first learning the World of Warcraft CCG Druid was the hero class I wanted to learn the most.
I was able to get some early morning ranked play done on Father’s Day. Here’s the video. The first game isn’t too good, but that second game was awesome.
I decided to break up the play and give ZooLock a try.
Here is the deck list I came up with.
2 x Forbidden Ritual
2 x Flame Imp
2 x Mortal Coil
2 x Possessed Villager
1 x Power Overwhelming
2 x Soulfire
2 x Voidwalker
1 x Dark Peddler
2 x Darkshire Councilman
2 x Imp Gang Boss
2 x Abusive Sergeant
1 x Crazed Alchemist
2 x Dire Wolf Alpha
2 x Knife Juggler
1 X Brann Bronzebeard
2 x Defender of Argus
1 x Leeroy Jenkins
1 x Sea Giant
I played against a friend in casual mode just to see how the deck played. It seemed pretty simple – play your creatures and swing face as much as you can.
The card that seems to be key is the Darkshire Councilman. This creature gets +1/+0 whenever you have a creature enter the battlefield. With low-cost creatures you are casting coupled with creature producing creatures like the Possessed Villager and the Imp Gang Boss, it has the potential to get large quickly.
After playing Casual I took it into Ranked play to see how it went. I ended up with a 3-4 record. Unfortunately, I didn’t record any of the game play. I will try and do that next weekend.
The worst match-up was against Shaman. I simply stood no chance. For whatever reason Hearthstone decided I need to play a lot of Shaman decks. After losing 2 in a row, I decided I didn’t want to play against any other Shaman (I was getting my butt handed to me early on the Druid deck by Shaman, too) so I went ahead auto-conceded whenever Shaman popped up. This happed four times in a row. Obviously, Shaman is extremely popular right now.
Overall I thought the deck was fun. It has the potential to go big quickly. I like that. While it won’t be a replacement for the Druid deck, it should be a good stand-in every once in awhile.
Hope everyone is having fun this week. Anyone playing something interesting? Share in the comments.
