As many of you know, unless you don’t pay attention to video games, the last two weeks have seen some massive releases. On Nov. 17 Star Wars Battlefront hit shelves while the week before saw the releases of Black Ops 3 and Fallout 4. What an exciting time for gamers!
At my house, my boys and I have been fighting for time on our Xbox One. My youngest wants to play Fallout 4, my oldest wants Black Ops 3, and I want to get time in on Star Wars.
So I concede to them to let them play first – the boys are not allowed to play during the school week as school will always take precedent in my house.
I played Star Wars very little throughout the week. Obligations with family and an otherwise busy schedule prevented me from getting any significant time in; however, the weekend was all for me.
Saturday afternoon I loaded up SWB and sat down to give it a try. My first attempts were at some training missions which I followed with solo player missions. The lure of the multiplayer pvp was too much though so I joined a battle.
At first it was a whole lot of me not knowing what I was doing. Truth be told, I haven’t played a game like this in a very long time. Typically, I play World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, or Madden when playing video games. My last experience with this type of game was Halo: Combat Evolved. Yes, the original Halo on the original Xbox. I have tried to play FPS but I find myself getting nauseous quickly and having to stop.
Lucky for me SWB has a third-person view that, as far as I can tell, doesn’t take away from the gameplay.
The first several attempts were brutal. I was lucky to get one kill while dying 10 or more times. But, as I adjusted to the gameplay, and I unlocked better weapons, I saw those number changing. Soon it was pretty even, often times I had one more death than kills.
By the end of the weekend, I was hitting 10 plus kills with 8 or less deaths. Not too bad for a novice.
Of the game itself … wow. This game is incredible. The graphics are intense, the game play is smooth, and the worlds are amazing. I love this game and am very thankful I picked up the deluxe edition. Has anyone else given this game a try? I would love to hear your experiences in the comments.
